Zizo's Pizza | Our Story

Built on Michigan Avenue

Zizo's Pizza started with fresh dough, halal ingredients, and a simple goal: feed Southwest Detroit well. What began as one neighborhood shop became a local go-to for pizza, pasta, wings, and family deals.

Zizo's Pizza began with a shared dream between two friends from Yemen. After moving to the United States, Mohammed Ba Brahem discovered his passion for pizza while working in restaurants, becoming fascinated by the craft of dough fermentation and handmade pizza. When an opportunity opened on Michigan Avenue in Southwest Detroit, he and his longtime friend, Mohammad Ba Wazir, took a leap of faith and built Zizo's Pizza from the ground up.
From Hard Work to a Neighborhood Favorite

From Hard Work to a Neighborhood Favorite

The early days weren't easy. For months, the restaurant struggled to find its footing, but the founders never compromised on quality. They believed that great pizza would speak for itself, and it did. One guest became a regular, regulars brought friends, and word spread throughout the neighborhood. Today, Zizo's Pizza is proud to be a local favorite built on perseverance, consistency, and the support of the Southwest Detroit community.
Crafted with Care, Every Day

Crafted with Care, Every Day

Everything we serve starts with the same philosophy that inspired us from day one: keep it fresh, keep it simple, and do it well. Our dough is carefully fermented, our halal ingredients are prepared with care, and every pizza, pasta, wing, calzone, and sub is made with attention to quality. We believe the little details are what turn a good meal into one worth coming back for.
Looking Ahead, Staying True

Looking Ahead, Staying True

As Zizo's Pizza continues to grow, our mission remains the same: serve great food, welcome every guest like family, and stay connected to the community that believed in us from the beginning. Recognition from MLive and a USA Today readers' poll has been an incredible honor, but our greatest accomplishment is earning the trust of the people who make us part of their weekly traditions.
